What do IR-A, IR-B, and IR-C mean?

IR-A

Infrared radiation has short wave, medium wave, and long wave. Another name for  short wave infrared radiation is: IR-A. IR-A penetrates the skin more deeply compared to IR-B and IR-C. Therefore, IR-A infrared lamps are also classified as therapeutic light. IR-A ranges from 700 to 1400 nm (nanometers). The wavelength is expressed in nanometers. Below 700 nm, we speak of visible light. Infrared light is invisible, but short wave infrared light is closest to visible light and thus has a very  good therapeutic effect. Think of reducing muscle and joint pain. The closer the radiation is to visible light, the shorter the wavelengths and the stronger the radiation.

IR-B and IR-C

IR-B is medium wave infrared light and IR-C is long wave infrared light. These two types of infrared are further from visible light, which means they have a less deep effect than IR-A. With a wavelength of 1400 to 3000 nm, medium wave radiation penetrates the upper dermis. This is good for  blood circulation, sweating, and detoxifying the body for example from viruses. For a  cosmetic treatment or effective skin cleansing a simple infrared lamp with IR-C (long wave infrared) is often sufficient. The heat penetrates the upper skin layers, which is enough to open the pores. This way, dirt trapped in your pores can be more easily removed. This radiation is good for the skin, helps promote good blood flow and increased sweating, but is mainly used for  relaxation and warmth.
